Kicking Off Today: ReInvention Stories Series Reveals the Faces of Dayton Renewal

"I think Dayton was kind of hungry for something like this," says Maureen Barry, the membership director for Fifth Street Brewpub. Ohio's first brewpub co-op, and only the second in the nation, Fifth Street will open this year. The couple worked with neighbors who chipped in to give new life to a failed bar that had become an eyesore.

Producers at WYSO interviewed Barry and the pub's board president Brian Young for the first in a weekly series of paired audio and video pieces that began today. The series documents how locals are finding ways to reinvigorate a region hit hard by recession and outsourcing. Listen to the companion radio story on WYSO's site.

Led by seasoned documentary team Julia Reichert and Steven Bognar for the national Localore initiative that AIR is producing, the ReInvention Stories team is now gearing up to launch a much-anticipated interactive documentary with Zeega. Check back here for news on the project, and other new media life forms that AIR, Zeega and Localore's producer-station teams will launch in the coming weeks
